Resurrection Parish is a Catholic church that has been a part of the Boyle Heights community for over 95 years. There is always something going on in the parish for the good of the community and the good of your faith and family.
Resurrection Catholic Church has been serving the Boyle Heights community since 1923. It is part of Deanery 9 that represents the San Gabriel Pastoral Region. The original church was located on Lorena Street and the new building, on Opal Street, was built in the 1950’s. Father Ramon D. Garcia (1913-1972) became pastor in March, 1953. He added substantially to the “physical plant” of the parish, but more importantly, he gave identity to the mostly Mexican-American community which, by that time, had replaced the pioneering Italian, Irish, Hungarian and Polish populace.
